I currently drive a 2000 MK4 Golf. I would be selling/trading that (not absolutely sure what I'd get for it) and adding in maybe around €3-3.5k. I'm not particularly fussy when it comes to cars so what I'm looking for is something which is at least the same 1.4 that I currently have - though a bit more would be preferable - is as new as possibly and is extremely reliable. I'm not as fussed about looks, though obviously that's a bonus. I don't drive a massive amount of miles a year but when I do it tends to long-ish journeys with work, so comfort is a must.

Basically I just want something that isn't going to need much looking after in terms of work being done and which isn't going to cost me the earth if it does need some work.

    Thanks in advance.

    A Ford TDCi engine??

Edit: just seen you don't do much mileage, so probably no need for a diesel.

You will get a decent Mazda 6 petrol on your budget, uber reliable once it hasn't been abused and they are cheap to buy these days as all the sheep want diesels.

Cheers for the responses. The Mazda 6 looks good, alright. Someone mentioned the Primera to me. Any good?

    Any particular reason?

    Anyone else got any suggestions?

The last model Primera wasn't a great car. A Mazda 6 would be a better car in every department.

Fair enough. Another suggestion I've gotten is the Almera. What do people think of that?

Almera is really old now and were never really at the top of their game when lauched back in 2000. The one thing they used to have was reliabillity and even that wasn't great in that model as they had issues with timing chains and headlights.
