Money or bullion escort to the mint. Happens every few months.

I grew up in Dublin 12, you can actually see the aircraft flying in the circuit at Baldonnel at times. So it's really close to the airfield in flying terms. So naturally you see a lot of Air Corps traffic. Nothing unusual in that. It doesn't happen anymore but when I was a kid they would even practice aerobatics overhead. Great to watch.

I live right beside the mint and its the only sort of intresting low flying i get to see :D. Im not spoiled like the others on here that live near casement or dublin airport :p
The escort it gets on the ground is some sight in itself too!

Great oppertunety for some good shots if only i had a decent camera! :(

Seen this on the M50 yesterday. 3 articulated trucks escorted by a huge amount of garda/army vehicles and of course the 3 eyes in the sky. Assume the trucks were loaded with cash

Euro notes for export. No, not to bondholders...

The Currency Centre prints notes for other countries.

Used to love watching them practice aerobatics in the run up to the Air Spectaculars. I remember one particular year 4 Marchetti's where appearing instead of the Silver Swallows. Part of their routine was when one of the aircraft broke away for a solo display. While this was happening over Bal the other three would orbit over my parents house. Then when complete the singleton would rejoin the formation right over the house. You could hear him increasing the power to regain formation-mega.

;) Ahh so that is why our GDP is positive, while the country is in the you know what.

So are helicopters always escorting these convoys? Is it Aer Corp or Gardai?

I believe the helicopters were looking for dust.

What do you mean by "searching for dust"?

Yes. Two Air Corps AW139s and one of the GASU 135s I think(correct me if I'm wrong) And obviously numerous Gardaí and Army vehicles on the ground.

What's wrong with it? They're trucks full of money for Christ's sake, not even ours
