Saorview Approved TV

I have been asked to pick up a saorview TV for an elderly relative. I had a look at a few of them online and had a look at the inputs. Do all saorview tvs have a socket for the ariel cable ? Is this called the AV input or is the AV input the set three different coloured inputs ?

Stupid questions I know but I don't want to get her a TV and end up not being able to connect it.

All Saorview TVs have an aerial socket.

'AV' inputs can refer to any of SCART, HDMI, component (three coloured sockets) or composite (a singe yellow socket) video inputs, these are used to connect cable TV decoders, Blu-Ray/DVD players, games consoles or even a digital camera to do a slide show but every Saorview TV needs an aerial so has an aerial socket.

The aerial socket may be labelled 'RF In' but you probably know what it looks like anyway.

Thanks for that, I figured as much, the description on the net said

Connectivity:

• 1 USB port and 2 HDMI sockets.
• Composite.
• AV socket (rear).

Just wanted to be sure the AV they refered to was an aerial socket

No it's not, AV does not refer to an aerial socket. That sounds like a SCART socket.

An aerial socket is such a given that a lot of technical specs. may not even mention it.

It couldn't be approved for Saorview without an aerial socket.

Cheers, it does say Saorview approved. Thats the problem with buying something in Argos, you cant see it until you get home

I bought that TV on Sunday, it does have an aerial input
