My marathon training plan has an easy steady easy typically 20min/20min/20min. What is the benefit from this session?
And as I also do 1 tempo and 1 interval session during the week is this session still needed. Thoughts?

Sounds like a treatment you would get in a spa.

It may be related to one of the other runs in the plan (e.g. a precursor to a session). Does sound a bit like a tempo though. Does your program define what 'Easy' and 'steady' pace or effort are?

I would assume it's about 80-90% of race pace. Hard enough were you'd find it difficult to maintain conversation, bar a few words.
