Heard about this a long time ago..

.. good to see it's finally being released.

    What an amazing cast!

Weird trailer. Could be hilarious, could be a load of obnoxious nonsense. Hard to tell from that trailer alone.

So a load of short films from poor to mediocre directors (and James Gunn), in which words like 'poop' and obscenities seem to be considered hilarious punchlines? Anthology films are infamously uneven, and hopefully one or two will make good use out of the acting talent. But that trailer is a comedy vacuum.

Typical predictable jokes. We need another classic to come out and save us from this modern-day movie drought.

    Called it :pac:

The reviews for this are likely immeasurably more entertaining than the film itself. Been a while since I've seen a film receive such a thorough trashing.

You really would wonder what they were thinking making that steaming pile of crap:

    Peter Howell
    Toronto Star

"Your laugh mileage may vary (God forbid), but we can all agree on one thing: this is the biggest waste of talent in cinema history." :D

"the biggest waste of talent in cinema history" jaysus those are some harsh reviews, I was going to see this purely on the cast alone but won't bother now.

Oh my God....saw this earlier and it was the biggest waste of a Sunday afternoon ever....PLEASE....AVOID!!!
Crude and disgusting all the way through...very few laughs.

I had really high hopes purely because of the cast - surely a comedy with Hugh Jackman, Richard Gere, Halle Berry, Kate Winslet, Emma Stone etc would be brilliant! But that definitely wasn't the case...

Of the 90 minutes, there's a decent 20 minute sketch show in there. A few chuckles. Some decent ideas behind some of the sketches...BUT holy Jesus there was a lot of sh!t to wade through.

Half the things that made you chuckle is more down to the fact that it was involving (insert famous actor).

Best advised not to go into it even with the most minimal of expectations.

    My favourite review so far.

"If your idea of a gut-busting good time at the multiplex is to see Jackman clown around with a pair of testicles on his neck, accidentally dipping them in butter and slapping them on the head of a baby, then Movie 43 is pure gold."

Saw this yesterday. Both hilarious, and a load of obnoxious nonsense, at the same time. Stupidest film ever made, though that is not necessarily a bad thing.

I'll be honest, I thought the trailer looked shit anyway.

Looks like a car crash of obscene and obnoxious nonsense.

But it has Emma Stone in it.

    From Empireonline:

    http://www.empireonline.com/features/movie-43-critic-quotes/

One of the reviews ends: "Being waterboarded might be more fun"

This sounds like it was made to be deliberately tasteless and poor in order to peak peoples curiosity. However from what I've read it seems SO tasteless and poor that it has gone past the point of curiosity into the area where people just don't even care.

Not to mention the trailer was one of those "trying too hard and still not funny" efforts. I'm not really a fan of sketch movies anyway so I can't imagine being in any hurry to see this one in particular.

Could somebody please inform Peter Farrelly that 'gross-out' comedy died circa 2001/2002.

I've never heard Mark Kermode swear before, but this is the film that made him curse on the record: link.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I have never seen reviews quite like this. Metacritic has the meta-score. Ebert took the blue pill he'd been hanging on to for years, and found that it didn't work:
Warning! Descriptions of astonishingly unfunny scenes of grotesquerie, scatology and female humiliation are directly ahead.

If this film were a comedian, it would be Frankie Boyle. If you find Frankie Boyle funny, you may find this funny. Complete have-no-brain film, and i've no idea how they managed to get so many celebs into it, considering the material in it. Each "film" goes way beyond the socially acceptable level.

The actual "main" part of the film (the bit in between the films) was terrible, but the films themselves were alright, if only for the fact of the actors/actresses in it.
