Audi A6 Estate 2009, 2.0 tdi

I have driven an 99 Audi A6 1.9 tdi saloon for past 8 years, economical and pretty much bullet proof.

Looking to upgrade to a newer model specifically to a 2009 A6 Estate. 2.0 tdi SE (CO2 139gms). I will probably source in the UK as it works out cheaper, even when you take into account the sterling exchange and the VRT. I woudnt shy away from 80 – 90 K mile models, as long as they have a service history.

I was just wondering if anybody is aware of common faults in this model to keep an eye out for?

    Cheers

Hard seats and suspension as well as inflated values and reputation !

Some people on here will confirm this but i think the 2.0 tdi engines were troublesome around this time

2009 would be common rail so should have no major reliability concerns.

They are a good car OP, generally very reliable.

The CR (common rail) engine only appeared in the facelifted A6 which was launched midway through 2009. So there will still be plenty of pre facelifted A6s registered in 2009 which had the older PD engines. The facelifted models with the CR will have lower emmissions too. From what I read there were issues with the early CR engines when launched in the A4 in 2008 but I think they were ironed out by the time it was put in the A6 in 2009. A neighbour of mine just traded a 2009 A6 2.0 CR and put 70k miles trouble free miles on it

I think the 139g version is the CR engine. Was known as the 2.0Tdi e in the UK, we just called it the 2.0Tdi over here. They had the option of the 140 (or 143) engine as well, but it wasn't sold here as the higher VRT bracket would have made it much more expensive.

There was a special offer in 2009 that gave MMI Nav, BOSE Sound system, Leather & Bluetooth (if the latter 2 weren't already standard).

We were looking at similar motors recently and all the 09 A6 Avant's we saw had the Special offer pack and most were UK imports. There was an issue with the CD/DVD player and Nav disc with that system in that the map disc wouldn't eject and you had to take it back to Audi for re-coding to allow the disc out. CD's can't be played while the map disc is in, unless there is a multi changer in the glovebox. 2 SD card readers though so no need for CD's anyway.

Ended up going for a 2010 V70 that was cheaper than the 09 A6 Avants that had higher mileage.
