I'm trying to find an app or some way of hiding the status bar on Android.

I've searched the Play Store but can't find anything.

It's for running XBMC on an Android mini PC, the status bar is not automatically hidden.

It's app specific as to whether the notification bar is shown or not, the developer of the XBMC app must implement it. Unless a specific ROM offers this functionality with root.

what version of android is it?

honeybar works well on honeycomb but the hide is initiated via touch. same wtih GMD Gesture control so not sure how this translates to non-touch android.

Some launchers can hide the bar too again root is probably required but apps might show it again when they launch

Not yet on the Android builds I've been using anyway. Seems like such a glaring thing to fix. Using the stock ROM with the MK802.

You can hide the status bar if you use Go Launcher Ex as your launcher, best launcher imo, defiantly the most configurable, you can slide your finger up or down to hide/reveal dock/status bar after you enable the function in its settings

It's not visible in xbmc on my galaxy s2.
It's weird, is your status bar hidden in games etc?
