Does anyone have any suggestions on jobs/career options for someone with a BA in Economics and Sociology, a Certificate in Investment Fund Services and a University Diploma in Financial Services (covered 2 management modules and 2 marketing modules) - preferably not Funds though!

    Minister for Finance?
Well I suppose my complete and utter lack of skill for looking after my own finances should have me as a top candidate for that job really

Funds seems to be the obvious one... otherwise, Graduate accounting role maybe
If you've no previous your degree is probably worth as much as any other degree i'm afraid.

Department of Finance could do with hiring people like you but the unions might object!

You may need to retrain or at least add another slant to your CV as you seem to have (unintentionally perhaps) headed in the funds direction.

    Anyway re possible:
    • Retrain as an accountant, ACCA might be easier than starting the 3.5 year ACA slog.
    • With all the increased regulation, and the fact that it would tie in nicely with your FS background, compliance might be worth a shot https://www.lia.ie/course/professional-certificate-and-diploma-in-compliance Can do the exams part time too
    • HR is another avenue but Id imagine its pretty hard to break into now
Taking into account current market conditions, ease of transiton and in considering future job prospect, compliance might be the best of the above. That still doesnt mean itl be an easy slog im afraid but where theres a will, theres a way!

I was afraid that funds would come up. I've been a FA for the past 5 years, that's the reason for the cert and dip.
Compliance looks like the best bet!

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.
