Spinning Bolt in Carbon Frame

One of the bolts that holds the waterbottle cage to the frame is spinning in place and won't come out of my carbon frame. The bottle cage is broken so need to replace it.

Any ideas on how to remove the bolt?

    Thanks for any help.

if the threads are knackered try gravity. IE Turn the bike upside down and try to gently back it out that way. If the screw recieving mount is bonded to the frame(I presume that's how carbon frame mounts work?) and that's broken then I dunno how you could fix it.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Thanks Wibbs.

My fear is that the receiving mount has come free of the carbon from the inside but I can't tell as part of the cage is still being held on. If I cut the head off the bolt and the mount fell into frame I could probably get it out but then how do I attach the next cage?

    Down tube or seat tube?

If you need to rebond the mounting to the frame, use a product called Devcon plastic weld, which comes in a 2 syrnge set.Its an epoxy resin type of stuff and has done the job for me twice.Available from motor or engineering factors.

This happened to me twice. The first time I was able to get some resin/putty in between the fixing and the frame which held it. The second time it was totally shot and had to be cut out with some very minor cosmetic damage to the frame.

    Downtube, Lumen.

Wav- How do you re-attach the mount from the inside?

I've seen that 'fishing' technique used for the seat tube but nothing for the down tube.

I suppose if you have a press-fit BB you might be able to go up through the (hollow) BB shell. Might require a surgeon!

edit: a quick Google suggests drilling out the bolt and then using a rivnut tool to put a new boss in.

    Or maybe this helps?
