Mounting a new LNB to old Sky (grundig) Dish

I'm trying to mount a quad LNB to an old grundig Sky dish. I'd guess that the dish was installed around 1999 or 2000. I managed to remove the old LNB but am having trouble attaching the new one to the arm of the dish.

The new LNB came with 2 mounts. One that is meant to slip OVER the dish arm, and another that's meant to be inserted INTO the dish arm. As far as I can tell, the mount that goes OVER the arm is incompatible with my dish as it's arm is too wide.

The mount that can be inserted into the dish looks like it might be the right width, but there is some kind of tapered plastic fitting on the end of my dish's arm that is preventing me getting it in there. Is it just a part of the old LNB that has gotten jammed in there and can be removed somehow?

Pics of mount, and dish arm below.

Maybe if you have difficulty you should just buy a new dish, they are cheap enough.

You need to take the existing plastic out from inside the arm (there may be a plastic plug holding it in) , once you get the new one in use a cable tie or similar to secure the new lnb through the hole where the plastic plug was

Should that piece definitely come out? It's pretty well jammed in there, but it has been in there the most of 15 years I suppose.

Why would I have suggested it if it did not have to come out ?

Just double checking because it's so wedged in there that it feels like it's not something that should be removed. That's not surprising though since it's been up there so many years now. I'll have another go off it tomorrow.

It does look well rusted to be fair, might be time for replacement as suggested earlier

Ok, I got the new LNB in (thanks Tony). Problem is, I'm getting no signal at all. I was very careful not to move the dish while mounting the new LNB, though I may have moved it very slightly without realising.

Looking at the system settings on my sky box, I'm getting nothing for signal strength, nothing for signal quality, and lock indicator says 'not locked'. If the dish is misaligned should I still be getting some kind of weak signal rather than no signal at all?

Sometimes you get some reading in the signal strength due to background noise. If it took a lot of force to get the plastic out them maybe it has moved slightly, I'd double check the F connector first though before moving anything.
