Hi all, just to let you know that PDN has stepped down as a moderator on this forum. As you'll know, he has been moderating this forum for the last 4 or 5 years, and has played a huge role in holding things together here through good times and bad. The very fact that we still have this forum at all is in no small part related to the work he has put in. However, real life beckons, and I hope you'll all join in wishing him the very best of luck in the future and that all his endeavors will be blessed. Thanks again for all your hard work and don't be a stranger!

PDN has indeed held the forum together when it almost seemed like it was on the way out...He provided stability here when we all may have gone a little bonkers at times (as we do), and made some tough decisions that had to be made because he had the experience and knowledge to do so - I know, I've given him a fair share of grief at times, and it mustn't be easy to moderate this forum. PDN thanks for being there and being able to make those decisions, sometimes you only see the value of them in the aftermath, and just how right they were. Thanks a million, and like Benny says, don't be a stranger...Wishing you every good thing always.

As awkward as I have been on these forums I was never once put down over my so called bad grammar, lack of interesting discussion methods, spelling etc

The Christianity forum doesn't personalize their moderation,I think thats what moderation is all about

    :D

Wishing you all the best PDN, you will be missed for sure!

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warmly upon your face
And the rains fall softly on your fields
    And until we meet again...
May God hold you in the palm of His hands!

Thanks PDN for all your wise words and patience during your time as moderator.

    God bless

Thanks so much for your tight running and moderation on this forum. Thanks for your inspiration in terms of the Christian message on and off boards.ie. I remember meeting PDN in person about two years ago when he came to our campus Christian Union to speak about his experiences in China and a much sounder person you could not meet.

All the best in your further work for furthering the Gospel both in Ireland and abroad in King Jesus' name.

We have had our differences in the past but I salute PDN for his willingness to get to a compromise. Fair play sir - a nightmare forum to mod in many respects.

I think he'll be free to post his great insight, without having to worry about all the mod BS. IMO, he's been freed up to be an even better contributor.

On the flipside though, can we now get rid of all those horrible megathreads :p:)

This, and he won't have to listen to idiot crying foul and screaming oppression every time he tells them to shut up or puts them in their place.

The debating tactic where you let an atheist show his ignorance of scripture should be named the PDN.

The debating tactic where you don't get into science at all should be named the PDN+.

Absolutely. Free from the shackles of modship :)

Thank you to all the kind people who said nice things about me - and to the even kinder people who might have wanted to say nasty things about me but refrained from so doing.

I'm not going away altogether you know (to paraphrase Gerry Adams). I'll still show my face as a poster from time to time. However, real life commitments (a sick wife, a lot of foreign travel, and publishers' deadlines) mean that I can't give the commitment or consistency expected from a mod. I did try to step down many months ago, but Fanny Cradock beat me to it. However, we have both proved that, unlike the Hotel California, it is possible to both check out and leave the mod roster on this forum.

Glad to hear it. I also hope its nothing serious in terms of your wife.

Thanks, she's had some issues with blood clotting - one of which resulted in a nasty and debilitating clot on her lung a few months ago. We spent a lot of time on trollies in hospital corridors (God bless the HSE) and pushing her around in a wheelchair. Your prayers for her would be appreciated.

Ultimately, we stand far removed on many of the issues of religion, but we also have common ground. My athiesm hasn't stopped me from being a regular reader of the Christianity forum. In what is clearly a difficult forum to moderate (To which I can sympathise), I think you have done as good a job as anyone could do, tbh, PDN.

Best of luck in everything moving forward and I wish your wife all the best and hope she returns to good health as soon as possible.

All the best, PDN. It was good working with you for those 2(?) years.

    Prayers ascending!

    Farewell, PDN.

Despite my being a dirty heathen, I've always enjoyed reading your posts and your contributions to the forum. It's good to see that you won't be disappearing altogether.

I hope your wife is (and will be) OK. My thoughts are with her.

All the best PDN - Always found you to be an accommodating mod to non-Christians. (Unlike some unnamed mods in other religious fora)

You've been an excellent mod PDN- fair and patient. I hope that your publishers are kind. Most important, I hope that your wife gets the best treatment and recovers well. I have no doubts that she has great support from her husband, and that must surely be an invaluable comfort to her. All the best, and above all thank you.
