nissan x trail fuel pump

    hello,
can anyone please help me, I have a 2003 Nissan X-trail which has been giving problems lately. It was losing power and going into limp mode, it was taken to the garage and we were told it needed a new accelerator pedal. €780 later and after a week the car started losing power again. I should say at no stage did the engine management light come on to register a fault.
we brought the car to the garage again and they told us to keep driving it until it registered a problem on the computer. The car eventually came to a virtual standstill with still no warning light on, back to the garage and they said there was no problem registering, we indicated that they needed to keep looking and a week late they have discovered that it is a fuel pump problem. New cost €1500 euros just to replace the fuel pump!!!!( this is not for the diagnostic to date, just for the repair) and over €1500 for a pump (which we are told wouldn't even be new). This is from a reputable Nissan garage. If anyone has prior experience or any information I would appreciate it greatly. I cannot put €4k into (including the accelerator pedal, which to be honest I think was probably OK in the first place) as I simply do not have it nor do I have any money to replace the car. Thanks

This is a very easy DIY, remove the pump fuse. Make sure your tank is around half full of fuel.
Remove rear seat, get a large flat headed screwdriver and tap the clamp very lightly.

Then take off the rubber hose small bit of petrol will probably be in the hose.
Remove the filter and then place in your new one.

    Thanks for the reply,

is this fix still the same for a 2.2dci x trail.

strange, similar problems i mean behavior on nissan almera... but petrol engines, no light either and people changed everything with no results, at the end it turned out was maf sensor (mass air flow sensor) . if you have chance find / borrow good known, and replace just to see if any changes. .. just my 2 cents.

Sorry thought it was a petrol, I think the diesel one is attached to the bulk head behind the engine.
