Looking for instrument wood in Ireland

    Hi,

I'm going to be building a Les Paul for my Leaving Cert construction project, so I want to get a bit of practise in beforehand by making one at home. For this I need to buy wood, but all the places I've seen are overseas and charge a lot on shipping, or the wood is quite expensive. I don't need high quality wood to make this, just that they are the right dimensions.
    Anyone know any suppliers?

    Thanks

    any decent hardwood supplier.

I get maple from McMasters in Belfast. Nice figured stiff for pennies.

seriously, once I resawed this plank it worked out at less than £4 per set for mandolins.....

neck wood came from a dining table I got for free off freecycle

the last 2 Les Pauls I made used to be the bar top in a social club......

Mahogany is NICE but Iroko works well too!!

I read that this fella has a superb sawmill in Co. Wicklow: Pat Staunton sawmills in Glenealy, Co Wicklow, 087 2514934.
