    hi,

I have been with Eircom for around 12 months and my internet speed dropped to a crawl this evening.

I have 8Mb line and running speed tests now and again it would usually be around 7Mb. Now I am getting between 1Mb and 4Mb

Anyone know what is going on ? Speed is the same as my old o2 router

    Hi aindriu80,

I tested your line (which is testing perfectly). I checked the sync stats and the speed has been been steady at 8192kbps to the main socket, including peak times as NGB is uncongested.

Is there more than one person / devices connecting to the wifi at peak times?

have you insured your wireless access is secure and only authorised persons have access - http://bit.ly/Sxr2r1

    Thanks, Mark

    Hi GOODME,

I appreciate it is frustrating when you are on an "up to 8MB " NGB package and not getting the speeds you are hoping for.

However due to the distance of your address from your exchange exchange, the maximum speed on the line is testing 3MB.

The speeds to the main socket are showing:

    Downstream
    Synced at: 3072kbps
    Provisioned: 160-3072kbps

The NGB is still subject to line, distance and exchange capability, however as it is uncongested it will insure the broadband speed is as close to the 3MB speeds that the line can take day or night.

    Thanks, Mark

hmm thanks for the reply. The broadband has security yes. There are a few devices (ps3, Sony TV, Ipod touch) that all have access to the Wifi but that never has dropped speeds before. Just got a slow patch this evening

When the web pages don't load I find it quite odd. Almost modem like.

I ran the speed again and got

    most bizarre.
