Pajero Sport vs Pathfinder

    Hi guys,

I'm considering changing my golf van and getting a jeep, something along the line of a Pajero Sport or Nissan Pathfinder...
I don't necessarily need it for off roading, but I will be towing a boat the odd time and launching on fairly steep slips! Another thing I like is the ride height of jeeps so I'd like to get one for a year and see how I get on....the majority of the times it'll just be a daily driver...(commercial is fine, I don't need back seat yet)
I know the pajero sport doesn't have a great reputation around here, but what is it like to use as a daily driver rather than a work vehicle?

I'd like to get about an '05 model and the pathfinder seems to be atleast 2k more expensive, worth the extra??

I'm also open to any other ideas you can fire at me....

I've heard folks say the drive train on the pathfinder is brutal, prone to breaking etc.

The pajero sport is a good bus just get one with some service history I know a lad selling one for a song and it's been well minded, he ran a security business.

When it comes to having a jeep as a daily driver have you considered how much it's gonna cost to run? Hope you haven't a long commute because they're thirsty but the ride height in a jeep is great.

Link to that jeep I was talking about.

Thanks, I hadn't heard that about the Pathfinder so I must look into it!!
My commute isn't huge, most of my driving is unnecessary pricking about but that's going to stop as I've a few courses lined up for the evenings over the winter!!
It might get a trip to the UK once or twice a year for work but I wouldn't mind that to much....

    Hi OP,
Driving a pathfinder since '07, passenger, no problems whatsoever with it. The downside at the moment is the cost of fuel its probably doing around 28-30mpg, which I suppose is reasonable for large 4x4.

Hello Alan1990 I have a Nissan Navara have been driving it over 3 years now great Jeep but as said in another post Diesel is quite expensive now. I do over 650 Kms per week to work and back home thats with out doing any other driving so bear in mind fuel cost's other that that all I have done to the jeep is full services and tyres I am also a diver and was traveling from Kildare to Hook Head each weekend to dive so yes there good but expensive to run so beware the Fuel price but good luck with your new motor. ;)
