Alright lads, I was just setting up a silvercrest dish and receiver I got out of lidl's about 3 years ago only getting around to it now lol, but I cant seem to get any decent channels on it only german and french mainly. Is it possible to get RTÉ and BBC on it? any help would be appreciated thanks.

    Craig.

You can pick up most of the standard definition UK channels on Astra 28East with your setup once the dish is aligned properly.

If you are mostly picking up German channels, then your dish is aligned to the wrong satellite, either Hotbird 13E or Astra 19E. You should move the the dish east and drop its elevation slightly by a degree or two.

A full step by step guide is here:

RTE is only available via an aerial connected to a Saorview box or a TV with Saorview receiver built in. It is not free on 28.2

As already said for the dish setup it needs to point at 28.2 East which is slightly more to the east in the Sky and slightly lower. Then you will get lots of english speaking stations and lots of scrambled pay channels. The main UK channels are all free.

By the way it's not "freeview" but "Free to Air" channels on 28.2 or FreeSAT but for freeSAT you need a special branded box. Freeview is a different system and brand.

Best to put the TV and receiver right beside the dish. best when it's not raining and run an extension lead outside. Ideally pretune the box to BBC1 in someone's house who has a dish set up for Sky and then when on site turn your dish until you get BBC etc.

Think you nodded off here... It's the "other" West - the dish needs to be aimed further EAST and lower! (a bit left and a bit lower)
