Have a VW polo and after all the heavy rain the past number of days my wipers may have been in over drive but they kept on stick in the up right position on the windscreen in front of me driving yesterday and now have adopted that as the default off position!!

Anyone know whats up - how do i get them to be off at the bottom of the windscreen.

I've read through the manual but no info on it.

    Please help

    thanks M

happened to me a few years back on a drive to donegal, pulled in for ten min and they fixed themselves, never happened again.

I've a feeling its something to do with the motor acting up but not sure.

they're terrible cars, literally on 2 hours ago I dropped my one off from the back of a trailer for €200, cat was gone, rocker cover gasket gone, valves gone, coils gone.... such a nightmare. It had the head redone only last december....

I wouldn't be surprised if the wiper motor is dodgy like that

The wiper linage or the motor maybe?

My wipers on my old corsa were doing this, and eventually had to get the whole linkage repalced when it would unclip only after a few sweeps of the wipers.

I'd say it's the wiper linkage it's a common fault on VW's happened a golf I had a few years ago.

Word of caution. Don't mess with wiper linkage or motor unless the battery is disconnected.

    More than likely the relay
