HTPC New Build Feedback

    Hi Folks,

Could really do with some advice on my choices for a home build HTPC.

Basically, after about 4-5 years with a Popcorn Hour and no more firmware updates, I am going to build my own. Plan is to run Windows 7 64 bit and XBMC on it.

My biggest concern is probably the RAM choice and PSU.
Will see the noise level when I put it together and tweak accordingly.

    CPU: AMD A6 3670K
    Motherboard:ASRock A75 PRO4-M
    RAM:4GB kit (2GBx2), Ballistix
    Case: Silverstone GD05B
    PSU: SeaSonic X-400FL 400W

Think that about covers it. Still a final check to do but total comes to about €470.

    Thoughts?

EDIT: Oh, forgot - I will be adding a SSD as well.

my first thoughts are it can be built for a lot less will it just be a htpc for media??

Yeah, I was thinking I could do it for much cheaper if I was just looking at a HTPC, but I am thinking that I am not sure what is going to happen in the next few years and want to future proof as much as possible (as in life span of 5-8 years)

The media is stored on a Synology NAS and this will be a non-portable media player.
The system will be used for light gaming and potentially occasional standard PC/Webby use.

Cheers - I will read a bit more on this one. I had originally picked a XFX but for some reason discounted it (not sure if it was due to an annoyingly small noise coming from it, or if it didn't fit the case correctly, but as this stage, with the number of components I have been looking at, not sure which XFX supply it was.

    Have you experience with this?
My aim is to have a completely silent system, so during movie playback, on completely quiet scenes, I hear nothing.

I went with a fanless PSU in my PC as the PSU it replaced was the noisest thing in my system. Go with the Seasonic, one less fan to worry about creating noise.
