Read up on what to do for change of ownership don't hand it to the purchaser unless you want speeding fines and e flow charges.

Official name - vehicle registration certificate.
    Slang name - logbook.

I was confused at the begining as well.

Logbook is what is used to actually be, a brown book where the tax office would write the owners name and address in it. These where the good old days before computers and all....

    Allright... I didn't know that.
Unfortunately (or rather fortunately) I barely remember days before computers. I was 6 when I got my first Atari ;)

....I remember whe I bought my first car a Ford Escort mk2 way back in 1979 the book was a brown cardboard folder with spaces for each renewal of car tax all filled in by hand.

Driving licenses at that time did not have a picture and the test was alot easier than todays 2 part monstrosity.

My dad had an even easier time, buying a FULL license for about 1 pound when there was no test and no hassle except for taxes which were big in those days when people earned little and drove only short distances.

As warned do not part with the registration document without signing the vehicle transfer part and mail it to the vehicle registration office in Shannon.

They will then register the new owner and mail him/her out a new vehicle registration document.

If possible sign the document, get the new owner to sign his part and then seal and mail the document to Shannon office at a convenient mail box.

Money should change hands before the actual mailing takes place..........

    Still have the book?

Valuable as a 'collectors' item now. ;)
