25 Billion App Sale Coming Up

Hey, spotted that Google have announced that there will be an upcoming 25c sale to celebrate 25 billion app downloads from the Play Store, don't know what the apps are or when this starts, but one to keep an eye out for (I got swift key in one of these sales, and it's been a lifesaver).

Pity we can't get the books, movies and albums here too ! Got Swiftkey in the last sale myself and always find myself picking up a good few apps in the sales that never would have got my money otherwise.

Yes. Just press cancel after payment, as in, cancel the download. Any apps will show up as 'Purchased' in your apps.

EDIT: Just some advice for members, buy the Office Suite (25 cent), you'll be kicking yourself if you don't. Not a case of if you'll need it, but when..

Other apps are depicted in the promotion graphic, so I'd expect a rotation today.

Better than the previous day. Grab ezPDF, if you need it, great price. I'm partial to the game Rebuild. Rather nice old school feel with bright Atari-like graphics\colour scheme.

TuneIn Radio Pro too. In fact, I'd grab just about all of them, except that I've already purchased most, previously. Not tried mSecure.

i suppose you woulpd have to take the open source nature of apps on Android into account on that - there are far me free, and crap, apps on Android. I would say iOS still has the better apps, with companies more will to dev for it - as much because i would say pirating is a lot easier on Android . Just look at the Football Manager Handheld stats, piracy rates on Android far far higher than Android, to the point I could understand the devs not being bother to do one next year if the trend continues for the 2013 version.

Strangely enough, the companies who give out about Android piracy are the ones who make unstable buggy iOS ports (One of the 1st big piracy articles was from a dev who ported 1 game and never updated it). Or the Devs of Dead Trigger (Who caused a stir saying their freemium game had to be free because of android piracy then dropped the iOS to 0 aswell but the majority of money was made from in app purchases on both formats). Then theres counter numbers like from the Wind-Up Knight devs (His tweets were collected here ).
Piracy is a big problem on both platforms but it's not black & white. Devs who port iOS games have to realise that no customers will want to pay for buggy ports with zero. Theres plenty of devs who have made great games and been rewarded for it. The biggest rants are coming from devs whos games/apps are usually sh!te

My experience is that the apps on Android are way better. Forgetting about numbers as I'm sure 90% of apps in general are rubbish, but compared to using my iPad, I find the Play store ten times better, easier to use, and more likely to suggest really good useful apps I would want to download or buy - than the iOS app store. Android have vertainly raised their game quite a bit in recent times. Due to the open nature of Andorid you get scope for apps Apple could never have. I only recently got Go Launcer EX for example - brilliant app.

I've said this before but I really hate the way Apple tried to force feed you what it wants you to see, and it's Constantly on the upsell. Most of the free apps are totally rubbish and all they are trying to get you do is buy credits or the premium app. Android presents all the options to you, lets you make your own choices - and recommends some of the really good and useful new ones. Even when they do have free & paid versions, you get plenty for free - and the opion is there if you want additional functionality you don't mind paying for. The above mentioned Go Launcher EX is actually one of the most pushy I've seen for the upsell etc - having their own store etc - but it's still a far more pleasant experience to me than the Apple equivalent.

Yeah so did I, after the thread about the kickstart for the new Broken Sword game being funded. Ho-hum, but didn't mind paying for it, as you say, great game.
