key not working?

    Hi, the key to my 00 golf has stopped locking, I started to use the spare and within a week its dead too. is this simply a battery or is there more to this?thanks lads

    Is it the remote locking thats not working or will the key not work in the door?

    If it is the remote it is most lightly just a flat battery in the key.

    the locking function, the key will still start the car

    But you can still lock the car by putting the key in the door?
