Micksgarage substituting parts

    Hi all,

I ordered service materials for a car last week, Air Filter, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter, Belts ect.

I ordered Blueprint/ADL for the air, oil, and fuel filters (I find them high quality and great value for the money)

When the parts arrived the only Blueprint part was the oil filter. The air and fuel filters were "Filter Master" filters.

Is this kind of part substitution acceptable? I had to use the parts anyway as the person needed their car that day, and I dont really want to go hastling the people at tallaght motor factors if it is an acceptable thing to do. I just think that if I order Blueprint, I should get Blueprint.

    Any thoughts?

Had the same experience when ordering a fan belt from them, however the substitute part was a better brand and more costly so that worked out better for me. I don't think it's on though and they should ring to confirm you are happy with it first, if you order it you should get it.

aaaaarrrrgggghhh........ never happen with them before.... whatever order , you got what ordered, now they start substitute .... seems to be they are running out stock.

Letter what i just got from micks garage

Thank you for your order with Micks Garage.

On a rare occasion, the specific brand that is ordered online is out of stock.
In this case, we will substitute a brand of equal or greater quality onto the order in an effort to keep the inconvenience at a minimum for the customer.

In relation to your own order, we have replaced the Sachs Clutch kit with an upgraded Exedy Clutch kit version at no extra cost to expedite the process. We would hope that this is to your satisfaction.

    Best Regards,

    """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

    Hi all,

Just an update to the original post from yesterday.

Mick's Garage customer support rang my this morning (must have linked my boards username to my order!)

The person explained that it was an error, and a once off issue that has now been dealt with.

They also offered to replace/refund the parts, which was very nice.

It's nice to see that a company cares about problems or issues, it is all too easy for a company to ignore them!

Had a pretty poor experience with these (Micksgarage).

Placed an order Tuesday before 3pm. Despite their site stating 'Order before 4.00pm for same day dispatch via courier' I was told that 'in fairness we'll hardly get it out today'! (as if I should have known!)
Spent Wednesday without the parts and cancelled everything Thursday to be home for delivery.
Thursday came and I was about to take the car apart (to prepare for when the parts actually came) but I thought I better check that they were actually dispatched on the Wednesday.
You guessed it, they weren't. I asked why and he told me it was because of issues there had been with details on the order. I reminded him that these were rectified about 20 mins after the original order on Tuesday so he just said it was because some of the items weren't in stock. He couldn't even guarantee me that the items would be dispatched today.

Contacted a local shop and they gave me a better price and while they didn't have them in stock, they could get them by half 4 (yes same day). Perfect.
Happily cancelled the order from Micksgarage (feel like I'm saving them the trouble of putting the order together anyway).

I should have taken the advice that is constantly given on here and stuck with the local. Great price. Good advice given when making my order and if anything is wrong I can easily pop back into the shop.

it is depend what you order, some parts are cheaper, some parts dearer. some specific parts have to get in local shop, you show your old part, otherwise will get wrong one.
what i really dont like in micksgarage, website is very slow. some times i am looking for some part.. just to see price or number, website stuck, and i am giving up.

I just saved myself 70 euro on a set of front pads and discs by buying them in a local MF. Micks garage is a rip-off(for all the parts for my car anyway). Your only paying for the convenience of having them posted to your door and in some cases not having to deal with the uninterested guy behind the counter. However they charge heavily for this privilege and you normally have to spin out to the local An post sorting office driving past 4/5 motor factors on the way to pick it up or take a day off and sit at home waiting for the part. Most motor factors will deliver too if you ask or ring you when they get the part in.

    rant over :pac:.
