How long till they get found?

And that teacher had better hope for a forgiving jury.... 15 is still statutory rape isn't it?

I'd say they won't get him on the kidnapping.... the only charge they will be able to prove is the stat rape one.

It's such big news here. Anyway anytime this happens they give themselves in after a few days.

Hard to talk about kidnapping, even coercion could be tricky to charge the teacher with.
Concerns about the relationship between a teenager and her maths teacher were already being investigated before the pair apparently ran away together to France, the local authority has confirmed.

The parents of 15-year-old Megan Stammers have made an emotional appeal for her to get in contact with them, after she caught a ferry to the continent last week with 30-year-old Jeremy Forrest.

It has emerged that concerns were expressed to another teacher about their relationship, following a school trip to Los Angeles in February.

A friend from Bishop Bell Church of England School in Eastbourne, East Sussex, said another classmate had raised the issue after seeing the pair holding hands on the return flight.

The 15-year-old friend told the Daily Mail: "They would always text each other. He would send her messages saying things like 'I miss you' and 'I can't wait to hug you'.

"We are really angry the school did not do enough to protect Megan. And now no one knows where she is or if she's coming back.

"I don't know how it all started with Mr Forrest but to begin with she was really excited about it.

"She would tweet about being in love and show us his texts. But after it was reported she stopped and then deleted her Twitter account. She never spoke about it after that and she didn't tell any of us that she was leaving. She probably knew we would stop her."

He has literally no excuse for his actions. As a teacher charged with the education and guidance of adolescents, he was in position of responsibility and he abused it.
As a husband, he took into account no one elses feelings.

I hope he's caught and punished to the full extent of the law, and of course is never able to teach again.

a 15 year old should have the freedom to be naive!

I dont know why he'd bother throwing away his career and his life for this. In this day and age hes more than likely going to be caught and then the rest of his life is ruined.

You'd think a 30 year old would have more sense but then i suppose theres no limit to human stupidity.

Assuming that he doesn't mistreat her, 15 should be old enough that she will later recognise how ridiculous their actions are (and how wrong he is in particular), but without bearing her any long term emotional scars. In the same way that many girls will have shagged some local fella at 14 or 15 years of age and then later regretted it.

I agree .In an ideal world yes. But as you can see there are people out there who will not hesitate to take advantage of a young persons naivity. He is to blame though, not her.

    yep, unfortunately....

i remember YEARS ago we had a 16 yr old start in the job where i was junior management... Think i would've been around 22/23....

She made no secret of her intentions and designs towards me.... and it took self control to not allow anything happen.

    It is in the UK.
Not sure about France, but in Germany it would be fully legal.

I'm guessing another week or so... I do feel sorry for both of them, I have to say. There's just no way society or their families will allow this to end well.

Some people need lessons on how to think with their brain and not their pants.

it was a freaking nightmare when i was the one locking up the shop at night time, and she'd be working late.
I always kept a few other staff back and we all left together.

the worse thing is that now she is a full blown hottie... and her being 16 was 15 years ago....

Its almost impossible, even for a well-funded and organised individual, to dissapear in this day and age. They need money and unless he packed a suitcase of cash, he or she will need to use an atm. Therefore they can be tracked. With social media and the worldwide community you have access to, you have even less of a chance of at least being spotted

What I always think of in these cases:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5ZxdSXTLx8
(Dave Chapelle, 'How old is 15 really?')

As to statutory rape, generally the age of consent if you're a teacher (or in a position of responsibility for kids) is 18.

    And hes a maths teacher.!!

Double standards, if this was a 15 year old boy with a female teacher we would all be thinking lucky sod.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,420 ✭✭✭Lollipops23

The teacher is a bloody fool. He should know better than to entertain this whole affair. The 15 year old is a kid, kids make stupid mistakes.

I hope the law catches up with him and he gets whatever's coming to him. His poor wife must be in a state.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,673 ✭✭✭AudreyHepburn

While I certaintly agree what they are doing is wrong, I also feel it is wrong to assume she is some niave little innocent and he a big bad paedophile who forced her into anything.

By the sounds of it she has gone willingly and don't think charging him rape or adding him to the sex offender's register whilst turning her into a victim would do anyone any good tbh.

Its funny....if this were a female teacher and male student I think the reactions would be very different.

It would encourage others not to do it. If people thought they'd get away with it, more would do it. As for luvvy dovvy crap, if the kidnapper keep them in the press long enough, the victim may get Stockholm syndrome and think they like the kidnapper.

He'll probably get a few years jail. The last woman who f**ked a schoolboy only got 90 days in jail; women generally get less jail time for any offense, so not really a big deal.
