A little introduction to Saturday's highlights

    Regis

Karl O'Connor is most certainly Regis and it is also highly probable that he propagates other pseudonyms . This has only added to the greater mythology surrounding the influential Downwards label that he has run with fellow art terrorist Peter Sutton (Female) since 1993. Unconventional and single-minded to say the least (what label can boast a back catalogue free of the industry standard cash cow remix ) by decentralising the focus on the dj/producer personality, he remains one of the more highly regarded creative forces within the British techno/electronic scene. Degenerate art indeed.

    DJ Moneyshot

The ever-eclectic DJ Moneyshot has won a mad decent following for his killer mixtapes, bubbling live sets, and party-smacking tunes. He’s an all round good egg, and jaw-droppingly nimble ‘pon the decks. His style is mad tight, and best described as “dancefloor beats, booties and bass with hip-hop skills,” if you ever find yourself in a situation needing it. When he’s not getting big love in ink, he’s getting props from cats in the field. Yoda admits to biting mixes off him, and DJ Food called him his favourite DJ out there right now. Praise indeed.

    Fran Hartnett

Fran has been involved in his local music scene pretty much since the dawn of rave, playing at and hosting parties railing against Dublin’s restrictive licensing laws. He decided to get down to business proper and hone his skills through an intensive MA before settling down afterwards to apply them to what is his true musical passion; techno. An all round creative type it’s not been a direct course but it’s the diversity of his influences and pursuits that makes him stand out as an artist. Not afraid to carve out his own beats and have that edge associated with the sound of UK labels Downwards and Counterbalance, you’ll find his sets will switch in texture and in pace from wall of sound techno to naked machine funk.
