kids book from the 80s or 90s, please help!

I remember a book that was set in Co. Wexford, in the Blackstairs to be precise, where they were trying to trace and save the last unicorns.

The only things I remember is those points. Can anyone help? I've tried googling a combination of those words but nothing much returning.

PS I believe it started in Enniscorthy, and there were normal horses involved, which may have been why I read it. I think it went into the Wicklow mountains and across the country to Cork.

Definitely not Moonlight, I remember that one. I'll have a look at the other ones later when I have a moment, but I have a feeling this book was written by a woman. Cheers though!

I found it! It was, terribly predictably, called "Save the Unicorns" and it's by Shelagh Jones. I feel pretty thick now.
