Here is an email I got from my brother about a triathlon he did a week or so ago in the USA with some video of people falling off bikes. I'm still not interested in doing a triathlon, but watching people fall over is always funny. :D:D:D

From the triathlon that I did last Sunday, the "Savageman" half ironman in western Maryland, often described as the hardest tri in the world (debatable, but it has a strong case). The signature part of the race is the climb up the Westernport Wall, a no-longer-maintained and badly beaten up street that reaches a 31% grade. If you make it up the Wall without unclipping or falling off, then you get a brick engraved with your name laid in the road. Lots of people don't make it.

    Montage of unsuccessful attempts:

This one has me in it. The picture is a bit wobbly, unfortunately. I earned my brick.

The video of the previous few minutes has some better thrills and spills; I'm coming up to the foot of the Wall right at the end of that one ...

That little climb is just the start of a 2000-foot/7-mile ascent. My bike time wasn't distinguished, but I did do ok on the hilly half marathon run after that. Apart from the pro/elite division, I had the fastest run split of all competitors.

I think that Savageman is the nearest middle/long distance race to Dory Dory - perhaps next year we will be seeing her take it on ;)

Answer my own question here, not this one but the Superfrog next week.

I'd not heard anything about Lance, but couldn't take that as any indication one way or the other as I doubt my source would have cared.
