Brewery tour of Ireland

    Hi all.

So, boyfriend & I are coming home next month for a short visit from California. We've been brewing for almost two years and have decided to do a brewery tour of the country (at least what time and travel will allow). I've been looking through the list of breweries (thanks beoir.org) and would love some recommendations or guidelines. I noticed a lot of breweries don't have public open hours, so I guess a lot of planning will have to be done to visit some places. We'll be located in Kildare but hope to get to Waterford, Cork, Dublin, possibly Belfast and anywhere in between that isn't too far away (I guess this is more of a partial tour).

    Can you guys recommend anywhere?
Any interesting events going on over the month of October? (Apart from the obvious Oktoberfest)
Are there any good beer bars/brewpubs we should swing by?

    Thanks in advance!

Lisa it might be wort mail.the breweries you are intrested in they may give you a private tour, some are very good like that

If you around Dublin on the last Wednesday or Thursday of October you could also drop into the bull and castle for the monthly beoir meet up.

Also a number of the bin craft bars have various events or new beers on, Twitter is be valuable in keeping up.to date :)

The lads at 8degrees will show you around if you give the notice. I'e imagine the others would be the same.

Great, thanks all, will start contacting some breweries starting with the ones mentioned above :)

Attending a Beoir meet up would be amazing, is it planned for the 24th of the 31st?

If you want to go further field, the West Kerry Brewery might be worth a visit.
    Absolutely love their beers!

It's the second last (you have missed too many;)) and it has been moved to Wednesdays now for the €4 pints and quieter night, which suits B&C and us.

So the next one should technically be October 24th

    Not really a brewery tour.

OP, most micros don't have formal tours, though many are obliging, if you're not interrupting their schedule.

    I'd second the breweryhopsofireland thing.

Great, thanks guys. I'll keep an eye out for information on the Beoir meet up. Would love to stop by!

I probably should have reworded my question a bit. That brewery tour does look great but I don't have 5 days to spare. We're planning to do our own tour/trip spread out over the time we're there and just try to meet as many brewers and see facilities where possible.

Not sure if whiskey brewing is of interest to you but the Kilbeggen whiskey tour is fantastic.
