SweetIM - Is this a virus?

I just installed 3 Windows Vista x64 updates. Nothing out of the ordinary. Three security updates.

After the obligatory restart, I was prompted to install something called SweetIM. I declined.

    Any idea what this is?

If it's bad, when would the file be on my computer? I'd like to trash it.

    Thanks.

    D.

It sounds like a browser hijacker alright (from googling), download mbam, update it and do a quick scan. Then look under control Panel>Programs & Features and get rid of anything with SweetIM in it. Windows update wouldn't have pulled this down, some other tool like youtube downloaders, that kinda stuff generally is loaded with this junk.

No Joy. Malwaybytes found nothing and there's nothing by that name in Programs. I'm not too worried. Will just ignore it if it pops up again.

Should have mentioned that I had a total mare on this computer two days ago when something called Babylon was all over all three browsers (IE, FF and Chrome). Ended up dumping FF and Chrome and reinstalling and restoring the virus that is IE from 8 back to 7 (couldn't get rid of IE, though I'd love to!). Seemed to do the trick. This machine is for image editing, so losing bookmarks was no big deal.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Update Malwarebytes and run a full scan in safe mode overnight just to be sure
