Facial and Hand tattoos?

    Hey,

Just wondering your thoughts on facial and hand tattoos? So highly visible ones? I'm thinking of getting something on my hand but not so sure as this could possibly hinder me in the future with job prospects etc. So just curious about people with these tattoos and if they've ever had any problems with being stigmatised or other issues?

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, going by what I see everyday, it's mostly complete thicks and scumbags who think they're name or a doggie paw on they're neck looks cool, who tend to get them.

Not saying now that there isn't plenty of people who probably have genuine, artistic tatts on show on they're neck, hand etc. But unless you work in an informal environment like a tattoo parlour, barbers or in a trade, you'd be doing yourself no favours if you're looking to work in an office or get into anny half decent club.

People still get enough hassle in the workplace for having tattoos on their forearm and wrists. Unless you're already heavily tattooed or in a steady job where a position wont be affected by tattoos, I wouldn't even consider getting tattoos on your hands or face.

Facial,as in face? Or neck? If its face you'd be making yourself complelely unemployable, that's pretty much a certainty. If its neck,it's depends where (and to some degree, what). I've a tattoo on back of neck, had no issues. As for hands, are thinking back of hand or palm? Either way it depends on career, future life plans etc etc. Do not rush it,it's highly visable. Most places won't do hands unless you are already heavily tattooed.

I was discussing this the other day and the only reason I'd get my face or hands tattooed is if I won the lottery and never had to work again (well except if I lost my hair, then I'd get a skull tattoo to stop people asking why I lost my hair)

Hands are one thing but face no way, a friend of mine had a small tat on his face this stopped him from getting into nearly every club he tried to get into at the weekends. Most of the ink work I have seen on people's hands is a mess, just don't see the point to be honest maybe hands but again not the face. Plus you will find it difficult for someone to do a face tattoo not many parlours like doing it. Well that's what I am lead to believe might be different in the south.

A co-worker of mine has on his shaved noggin extensively tattooed, can't get into any local bars. It's not worth it.

From what I know a lot of tattoo artists will refuse to tattoo your hands/face unless the rest of your body is already extensively tattooed (ie your running out of canvas) because of the way hand/face tattoos are seen, getting jobs etc

This is true. I was turned down by two places before for a simple finger tattoo, saying they don't do ANY hand tattoos (which I knew was a lie, assume it was down to me being in my work suit)

Got it done in Zulu with no questions asked, have never had a problem with it working in offices for last 6 years.

This is the way it should be aswell, it's not as big a deal with finger tattoos though.

However there are loads of new shops popping up all over the country with crap artists that'll stick a couple of class stars on your neck for a savage first tattoo.
