Going from PhD to the dole?

Hi, I'm currently doing a PhD where I receive a monthly tax free stipend. I'm approaching an assessment stage where you either get the nod to continue on or you leave the programme. Now despite how hard I have worked, my supervisors have not been any help at all really and so it looks like I might not pass to the next stage. I don't really mind this because I have been really unhappy while doing it.
I have interviewed for a few jobs but no luck yet. My question is will I be eligible for JSA if this happens? The reason it is different to a normal claim is that there would probably be a talk with my supervisors where it's agreed that this isn't working out and its time to leave. My worry is this might not be viewed as an actual 'redundancy' and I'd have to wait 9 weeks to claim (if at all). Any advice greatly appreciated!

I seriously doubt you won't qualify.

If you need to claim JSA a letter from your college/supervisors stating that you are no longer studying ect will suffice.

Thanks for the comments. Since I'm over 25 and actively seeking work (which I can prove) will I automatically be eligible for the full rate of JSA even though I haven't paid any tax for the last couple of years?
