Diseqc Vs MultiSwitch

    Hi all,

    Some advice please.

I am planning on installing a satellite dish for the UK channels and possibly a second LNB (on the same dish) for French Sat. (I may well include Saorsat also instead of installing a separate roof aerial). All will require different orientations I think.

So, do I need to use a Diseqc to combine the feeds, and then send that output into a multiswitch? From there I would like to run a single cable to a number of points, maybe six.

Or can I just use a multiswitch to combine the feeds (and maybe a terrestrial feed) and run that output to six receivers?

If I use a multiswitch, will that allow each TV to watch a different channel?

If I use a Diseqc, will that allow each TV to watch a different channel?

Whilst I don't have six TV's, I'm looking at future options, and maybe a HTPC, which will need a separate feed.

I'm looking for the easiest option with the least amount of cables.

    Thanks!

for two satellites and terrestrial you would need two quad or quattro LNBs and a 9/8 multiswitch. quad vs quattro depends on the multiswitch. some support one and some support both. this would feed 8 locations. no diseqc required.

there would be 8 cables coming from the dish to the switch and one from a terrestrial arial (if required).
there would be one cable going to each STB (or two in the case of SKY).

    Great, thanks simonckenyon.

So I reckon I need a faceplate at the tv end to split the signal to give a sat & terrestrial feed.

Some websites suggest it's more difficult to set up than a single LNB - any thoughts on that? (I've no idea either way..)

    Thanks,
