Dog Boxes for the boot

I currently have a cage for the boot of my jeep. But it's a car as much as it's a hunting vehicle so when they shake it comes through the cage and the smell / dirt is not nice so I've been on the look out for something like this:

    http://www.dogtransportbox.com/

... which I saw advertised in a magazine. I rang them and they are charging UK£260 + carriage. I mean it looks like a fine product but I think that's mad money for a plastic box.

I'm looking for any other suggestions / manufacturers with more realistic pricing.

    Cheers.

(I'm not going to uses a trailer type box as I often have to off-road to get where I'm hunting and I do not like the tow-hitch mounted models).

I remember the one you bought on here alright. I'm not asking you what you paid but is it fair to say it was a nice bit cheaper than full price?

It would be about €330 with the currency conversion to buy it new and whilst I'm not doubting it's a great box I feel it's expensive for what it is.

If yours got broken in the morning would you pay full wack to replace it?

They are saucy but a good box. Their courier is a fckn joke though. Lazy, incompetent as well as negligent & irresponsible. I got the below custom made which took an age to get done but when finally shipped had been taped up , marked as fragile etc When the overnight delivery service was 2 days late I collected myself at the depot. Box had been thrown around & slid along the ground ripping the bubble wrap & tape on one side. Split one seam & wore down the coating on the latches. My advice collect it yourself if you can!

I don't have it long enough to judge value for money & whether it will stand the test of time but I'm so far happy with it & it is exactly what I wanted.
Fits 3 dogs easy, 2 other compartments, 1 shelved at back, 1 top opening general storage. Big aul yoke & awkward enough But that's my design not the box.

I came across a company called "centuriondogruns" in Birr.
They are based in Cork and they make custom boxes. No idea of price I'm afraid and you will have to ring them cos there is nothing on their website.
    Number is 021 4875909

Thanks Vizzy... I actually came across one of they're ads on Donedeal and the lad that answered the mobile was the rudest most ignorant man I ever encountered. I had a question about dog runs and his answer was "look at the web site!"... He barked that twice then barked the web address. What a professional! If that's how they treat potential customers I don't see them lasting too long. He was in such a hurry I told him forget about it and I ended the call.

Again though Vizzy thanks for the help.

PS. I ended up calling that 021 number a few times previously before I figured out it was the same crowd as my Donedeal experience and it just rings out. Be Warned Folks!!!

if you rang me at that time i'd let you know who the bollix was. you don't have to be a clever chap to know office hours are 9 to 5. just because you want to buy something off him doesn't mean he's at your beck and call. . .

@ op. why don't you custom build your own transporter if you are finding prices a bit too saucy for you. wpb sheets are about eighteen euros and i'm sure you'd have enough in two sheets. box of screws and a couple of cheap hinges and a latch and you'll be sorted. bit of ronseal and your done for under sixthy euro.

Haha, I'm gonna start ringing this guy up asking him bonkers questions about dog boxes to drive him mad

Do they have doggy seat belts and airbags installed?
Can my dog chose the colour of the box?
Hi, it's me again, I think we got cut off, how much is that doggy in the window?
    :D:D

well if i rang him at twelve o clock at night with a possible order for 20 boxs and he treated me like that well it would be his loss ,he is a qualified dick and the way he is going he will be on the dole cause he has a horrible attitude

I'll give it some thought Dicky but I know my DIY limitations so Jelly's offer might be the way to go! Thanks though!!
