Have you seen anywhere for cheaper? I had my eye on the 500GB for €59.99 but happy to spend another €20 for 1TB. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056757599

€75.27 at today's rate. I'd suggest buying the one closer to home for the sake of about €4 difference

The link is from the Brand new MyLocalOffers website.

I suppose it's possible they can't handle the early evening traffic.

The link was working earlier. When I try now the player loads but doesn't then show the brochure.

(They have just scanned a copy of the Lidl brochure and you read it with the player.)

What do yez think of the telescope for 50 and the camcorder for 80? Thinking of the former as a prezzy to my bro and the latter as a prezzy to me

The brand on sale is mentioned on the Astronomy forum telescope sticky:
The most popular brands are Celestron, Meade, (Bresser, is also a Meade company), Zhumell, Bushnell, Orion, Skywatcher. Nothing else is really coming to mind.

If your brother is a child it will be an okay toy, a nice looking thing to have in his bedroom and views of the moon will be alright but 70 mm wide lens is nothing, the €25 binoculars they have every now and then are 50 mm, I know its longer than binoculars obviously but for astronomy the width is everything, its the measure of light gathering power and thats what its all about.

Even double that size to a 130-150 mm scope as I had not so long ago and Saturn and Jupiter are still just 2 tiny bright dots, maybe a tiny hint of the rings on Saturn or tiny pinpricks either side of Jupiter for its moons, if you're expecting to do any serious astronomy with it forget it, especially if there's any light pollution near you. Small scopes always equal disappointment then never used again.

    What about the camcorder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,272 ✭✭✭donnacha

In case some of ye are still experiencing problems with the website I took a few screen grabs of the offers - not the best quality but may be of use.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,292 ✭✭✭DubOnHoliday

Would you need to be out there first thing? Or would they normally have lots of stock. Can't really justify takings the morning off!!

    From the brochure:
Please note specials have limited availability

Some items may require that you be near the front of the queue when the place opens. All depends on what you're trying to get.

If its like the last one, there was about 20-30 of each thing.

Should be a ticket system in place,as in 1 of each item per customer.

Cross cut mitre saw is 20 euro dearer than when I bought mine only a few months ago for 50 euro.

Someone is trying to make it look like its a bargain and up the price from before.

    What about the camcorder?

For what it's worth, I had an Aldi Camcorder a couple of years ago that was an absolute piece of crap.

Did you buy it out at the bargain place near Ikea?

Few enough, maybe 4/5 or so.

    No, no sign of them.

Mostly clothing and furniture and some DIY. Reasonable deals but not worth a special trip at this stage.
