Connecting a STB to a TV: must it be via HDMI?

I bought a TRIAX TSC 114 combi box for 165.

I connected it to a 4-5 year old Sony Bravia using the HDMI cable supplied.

    All grand.

Somebody in work says they'll have to switch to Sky as there TV doesn't have a HDMI socket, and so she can't connect the STB to the TV.

    I hadn't thought about that.

Is a HDMI cable the only way to connect a STB to a TV?

The Triax also came with a length of aerial cable, which I haven't used.

Can I assume from this that an aerial cable could be used instead? Or SCART?
