Regular lurker on boards and occational poster but never before in the philosophy forum.

A night out tonight with a good friend who is having alot of difficulty with life in general got me thinking about whether or not it is worth the hassle and what exactly is the point of it all ? interesed in opinions !

He opened up to varoius problems/situations he is facing now that I never thought would be an issue for this person, simply because I have never known anyone to be so committed to achieving their goals as this person and to hear them admit that they are not happy got me thinkin !

We spend an awful lot of our time and energy worrying about situations and circumstances that we have no control over, and what I mean is that we didnt choose to be born or live the lives we live ....

So would it not be alot easier to acknowledge this fact and treat our day to day circumstances as something irrelavant rather than important ?

Hope that all makes sense on some level !

Please be advised that this OP was a bit vague and not framed as a philosophical question for discussion on our forum. You are encouraged to consider reading about "What's the meaning of life" (given in your title), including what one or more philosophers have suggested, cite that philosopher (or philosophers) in a new OP, and discuss how they may or may not answer that question.
