Black hole in the centre of the earth to consume earth in 2012

A conspiracy site has added a new theory to the 2012 equation.

According to this site the Large Hadron Collider created a mini black hole which has fallen to the centre of the earth where is has been growing and (according to the site and during its early stages) losing mass occasionally.

It then states that once the black hole passes the 25 microgram threshold (which according to the site it did so on September 7th 2012 where it used to be compared to a grain of sand) it will consume earth in105 days.

    The site: http://www.earthbeingdestroyed.com/

The FAQ and comment section of the site which is notable as the site is using calculations to determine the status of the black hole as is shown on the status to the left.

Life inside a black hole may not be so bad.

This video explains what happens if you travel into one...

Not sure what happens when your planet is consumed by one, though.

Since I really don't feel like giving that site a hit, OP, can you tell me if there's any backing from the scientific community for this hypothesis.

    Pfft nonsense!
Everybody knows the neutrinos coming from the sun have mutated into a new kind of nuclear particle, and are heating up the earths core.

    I like how it says:
Remember the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)?

When this colossal experiment was being built, there was widely publicized concern that it was dangerous. Scientists working on the project scoffed at the idea that it might create a tiny Black Hole that would swallow the entire earth.

On September 10, 2008, they switched it on.

On September 19, 2008, it broke. And they switched it off.

And you haven't heard much about it since then, have you?
So the site is either completely out of date or they are just that ill-informed. And given the silliness they claim is the science behind their claims, I'm not sure which.

There is no backing from the science community that I know of for this claim and when this was posted on a forum dedicated to science all responses opposed the claim that there was a black hole in the centre of the earth.

The site is still ongoing since a question that was emailed to them which asked them about how they were monitoring the black hole was asked recently.

How are you monitoring the current mass of the Black Hole?
We are not actually monitoring the mass of the Black Hole. It is undetectable, and will remain so until it begins swallowing the earth. The current mass of the Black Hole as displayed in the "Status" section of each page (upper left) is based on our calculations and not a direct measurement.

So then they are horribly ill-informed as the LHC has been back up and running since 2008 and was very recently all over the news when it found the Higgs boson.

The ideas put forward by the article have a high relevance to poo poo, & are directly linked to other poo poo based theories.

either way it’s just a few weeks to go…and doesn‘t the world end on the 21st anyway, according to that maya prophecy? or could that be it? interesting to see which type of apocalypse we get in december…

I'm no theoretical physicist but wouldn't the black hole be in space some where along earth's orbit?

Thats absolutely hilarious. Who are these people and how can believe that this is possible? A junior cert science student would instantly realise that its just not possible!

So light cannot escape the gravity of a blackhole, yet this one got sucked to the center of our measly 9.80m/s/s?

Maybe that's where all of my time has been going these days.:pac::pac::pac:

How so would this not possible, I ask because the site states that the black hole has the ability to consume electrons, thus increasing its mass and allowing it to remain on earth rather than it escaping.

It increasing it's mass would not effect whether or not it would stay on Earth. It would either be going faster than escape velocity or not.

The problem with the theory, aside for it being based entirely on technobabble and out of date information, is that it seems to think that scientists are not worried because a black hole would just fall through the Earth. This is of course a misunderstanding of how physics works and a strawman of what the scientists actually say.
They are not worried because if the LHC could create these black holes, they would evaporate due to Hawking radiation. And they would do so faster than they would "absorb electrons" or whatever other nonsense the site you linked to claims.

It's coming into October now. And like with every silly doomsday prophesy before this one will fail laughably.
The only real question is how the conspiracy theorists with back pedal on January 1st.

I havent visited the site, and the only thing I have heard of this is in the OP. And believe me when I say I can guarantee you that this is complete and utter b*llocks.

They are not worried because if the LHC could create these black holes, they would evaporate due to Hawking radiation. And they would do so faster than they would "absorb electrons" or whatever other nonsense the site you linked to claims.

The site does acknowledge the existence of Hawking's Radiation, but it states that despite this theory the black hole will grow regardless as it will lose and gain mass until it passes 25 micrograms and following that the black hole will double in size.
Our model for the growth of the Black Hole does account for Hawking radiation, and even with that steady loss of energy, it shows the Black Hole growing to consume the entire earth in little more than four years. If we change our model to ignore Hawking radiation, it predicts that the Black Hole would have absorbed the entire earth before February of 2009.

I suspect their model is flawed. Have they reproduced it so people can check it out for themselves instead of just believing them?

Jebus! This is the best new one in ages!

Who exactly is conspiring? To destroy the planet they live in?

    Not the Mayans surely?

It takes an awful lot of matter to 'create' a black hole. Our sun doesn't contain enough. Our solar system in fact, doesn't contain enough. Two (massless) particles in Cern isn't going to do it.

Do people post this stuff in CT because they really want to write scifi, but just don't have handle on the 'sci' part? If this was a movie plot, it'd be straight to dvd...

Just to post one more thing before this thread gets laid to rest.

This is how the site is monitoring the black hole, but in a lot more detail.
No, we're not monitoring the black hole. The estimate of its mass as
shown on our Web site each day is based on calculations which we ran
when we first realized what was going on back in 2009. The calculations
were based on the probabilities of interactions of a Planck-mass black
hole with electrons (and the much smaller probabilities of interactions
with atomic nuclei) within the liquid and plastic (semi-liquid) material
    within the earth.

Once it left the wreckage of the LHC on September 19, 2008, the black
hole has been beyond detection by any human instrumentation, and it will
remain so until the earth begins to collapse.

Thanks again for your question, and thanks for visiting
    EarthBeingDestroyed.com!

How does it support it? It just repeats the same nonsense claims and only uses an argument from authority.
Why trust that "scientist" when there's thousands of others scientists who can show you just how silly this theory is?

Not really seeing as that is the only article that is based on the same claim that a black hole resides in the earth's core.

This thread may as well be locked seeing as there is nothing of value that can be said within it anymore :P

Also a reason to lock this thread is that the whole thing is made up: http://www.earthbeingdestroyed.com/disclaimer.php
