Is Downton Abbey Season 3 available on iTunes or other legal free/pay to watch site?

I was able to purchase Downtown Abbey Season 1 and 2 on iTunes using my US account earlier in the year. I am from the US so I continue to use that account to get TV shows here. I was hoping Season 3 would be available to watch on TV3 on demand (3Player) but I was told they did not get the rights to air it online. And I don't have a regular TV to watch it live.

Does anyone know if the newest season is for sale on iTunes with an Ireland account? I think I can sign up for an Ireland iTunes account as well if that is what is required.

Unfortunately the U.S. PBS broadcast of Season 3 will not air until January 2013! Not sure why they are not showing it at the same time.

Or are there other places I can buy a TV series online while I am in Ireland? Like Amazon or Netflix or something else I have not heard of yet? Thanks!

The Irish iTunes doesn't have TV Shows, but the UK iTunes Store has the new series of Downton, but you'll have to get your hands on a UK iTunes Gift Card/Credit Card.

Thanks for suggesting a creative and intriguing option. I never would have thought about getting a UK iTunes Gift Card. I suppose that would be equivalent to a UK credit card though I wonder if they will ask for my UK mailing address. I suppose it doesn't matter when postal address I input if paying entirely by gift card as it won't be validated.

It is still frustrating to think that Apple cannot easily negotiate for Ireland and other EU country distribution rights. As they are paying the BBC or the TV distributors and bringing in more paying customers (and preventing people from using free work-arounds which I want to avoid).
