Dripping Sound

Hey folks, looking for some advice.

I came home this week to the flat and I can hear a kind of dull, heavy dripping noise coming from behind the water tank. It's not constant, happens every couple of seconds, and seems to go after a while (ie, it might start after I've had a shower then disappear a few hours later).

I went into the cupboard area and had a look around but couldn't find any evidence of water or staining etc, I reckon it's now coming from behind the makeshift wall the water tank is wedged into.

I called the management company and they said they wouldn't foot the bill for a plumber until they send one of their own people out to inspect the place next week.

    I guess my questions are:

    1. Is this something I should be seriously concerned about and go out of pocket to get an expert round or will getting eyes on it in two weeks time be alright?
    2. Would it be feasible for me to remove the plywood-ish "wall" and patch the pipe up myself until somebody qualified takes a proper crack at it?

    Thanks!

Is it a new sound... It just sounds like a drip on the ball cock...

You have a big black tank in your hot press and a big copper tank(usually green) Does the drip sound like its inside the black one...

If so i would be its just the ball cock. If there is a constant drip i would be concerned but not an intermittent one.

Hey, turns out the drainpipes outside, according to my neighbour's plumber, "went mental" and caused the leak in the walls. Long story short, no longer my problem!

    Thanks anyway!
