The first headliner is announced at 6 this evening - but it's been leaked.

Will be immense if its them...or Maiden. Get deftones and Clutch and I'll be happy. Oh and Pearl Jam.

Maiden are heavily rumoured too....It's a bit Sonisphere 2010 if it happens, but that was epic so I'm not complaining :)

Maiden & Rammstein, cracking start to next years line-up. The 2 headliners alone make me consider Donnington for next year.

The guy who runs Download FM has allegedly hinted on Twitter that the third headliner will be FF GD or PJ.

So Foo Fighters I would say are out, I think they're on a break from touring right now.

My money is on Green Day or Pearl Jam, though I have heard Slipknot rumoured elsewhere.

Sweden Rock announce more acts (Rush already announced)

    Status Quo
    Krokus
    Demon
    Amaranthe
    Axxis
    Witchcraft
    Huntress

Yea Foo's are ruled out due to finishing touring till the next record , Green Day would'nt really suit DL so Probably TITP and Reading/Leeds (although with them doing the stadium show it might rule them out of Reading/Leeds) .Yea out of all of them PJ are the best bet hopeully it will mean a dublin show

Hopefully they'll be announced as headliners for Rock Am Ring as well soon, since I'm planning a trip there next year.

Very strong start from Download though. I wonder if Sonisphere is going to try and match that or if there will even be one in England next year.

I'm hoping there will be, it was always a great festival and I like the way Soni is planned out in comparison Download e.g. distance between campsite and arena, the fact that attractions are part of the arena rather than a separate village, the way they run the bands in flip-flop format.

Plenty of headliners Soni could get though, just off the top of my head the likes of SOAD, Rush (touring lots next year, would go down well with the older crowd), RATM, Pearl Jam (if they don't do Download), Slipknot (might be a bit soon again though).... the list could go on.

I would like if they at least confirmed whether or not they intend for it to go ahead though.

Yeah, I was just looking at some of their tour dates afterwards and it looks like it would be very difficult to try and fit in both RAR and RIP, but I can always hope.

Maybe there might even be another Rammstein here before Download, or even a Maiden date.

Deftones have an album coming out, and Stone Sour & Down are touring in winter so maybe them? Hopefully! Pearl Jam would be great. I'll be going no matter who's playing because RIP is just so fekn great :D

Would be surprised if Sonisphere didn't go ahead this year, the 2010 and 2011 festivals were really successful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Sarnie

Fingers crossed for Slipknot as the third headliner. It is a bit early to be getting excited about Download, but I cannot wait!!!

I hope Soni goes ahead this year. Only been there once, had a brilliant time. I do think the layout is a better than Download. I'd say they will announce some amazing acts to try and make up for cancelling last year.

If anyone here's any rumours, I want to know!!

    Hey guys,

I know this might seems a silly question but would this be worth going to? I'm asking because this would be my first festival and I'm really tempted to go because of the headliners.

It won't sell out quickly, that's the luxury of it. Plus it has a deposit scheme.h

Is there any reason they sell 3 day and 5 day tickets?

Not everybody wants to camp from Wednesday. So the choice is yours! :)

Definitely worth going to though... I don't think I've ever regretted a festival. Hope the weather isn't like this year though! That would suck for your first fest.... I can still feel he foot deep mud pulling on my wellies

Tell me about it! My first Download and first camping experience was this year and it was pretty disgraceful weather wise! Having said that, I still had a great time and it hasn't put me of going again this year for 1 second!

Anyone know what the story is with the deposit system? Are you able to pay it off bit by bit or is it just in 2 big chunks? Assuming people have done it before with other festivals.

If its like Glastonbury and Oxegen you pay 2 installments

And can you pay that second installment whenever you're ready to pay it off?

There'll be a deadline. It won't sell out anytime soon though. I just save the money even if it means buying my ticket in like April rather than risking not being able to pay the second/third installment for these festivals.

So it's not likely to sell out on the first day then? I thought there'd be acts I'd miss if I went for a 3 day ticket instead of a 5 day but I suppose that's to accommodate people coming a long way.

True, I bought my ticket in January this year just before the price rise. Still, I think the deposit scheme might be easier on my pocket! I'm going to hold off for a while anyway cos I just checked the exchange rates and they're pretty atrocious (£205 is around €268 according to XE.com).

You wanted Pearl Jam yeah? I dunno, if Soni make a comeback, they might have them!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,132 ✭✭✭Just Like Heaven

I'm not really that big into Slipknot at all, but I haven't seen them and I'm sure it's gonna be bananas live so I'm happy enough with it. I was sold at Maiden in the first place though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Sarnie

Bought my ticket today :) Was going to go regardless, but when Slipknot were announced, I couldn't wait to buy my ticket! I must stop thinking about Download now, way too early to be this excited!

You wanted Pearl Jam yeah? I dunno, if Soni make a comeback, they might have them!

Pearl Jam are in my top 2/3 bands, and then the live shows on top of that make them my top 1. I know it wasn't guaranteed, but to then see one of the worst bands I've ever seen live be in headliner place, it was gut wrenching. I wouldn't have cared so much if it was a worthwhile band. Even Machine Head who I don't like (but will try see live again as sound garden got in way last time).

Still will prob go, there'll be more choice as always, and other headliners are fantastic. But hate idea of them getting my money, even though fests don't quite work that way.
