So I had a few hours to kill in dublin today so I sat parallel RWY 28.
    A few interesting occurrences
    1) ein133 was warned on startup that smoke was seen coming from the starboard engine and again at takeoff, continued on anyway. What level of alarm would normally be experienced at this? Is it just something to keep an eye on?
    2) there was a twin doing a number of missed approaches in okay conditions 270/10. Was there some ILS config going on perhaps?
3)I fecked off to gormanstown after hearing of live firing there, typical of my luck FOX261 was back to EIME for tea and medals by lunch time. While gone I monitored Dublin ATC to see were they returning through their airspace and I heard OSPREY66 operating, just wondering was it perhaps the Garda helicopter?
    4) finally, I heard an occurrence where and a/c may have had to go around but landed anybody else get the details of this?

I'm just a nosey git so any input is much appreciated!

So you missed the Lufthansa A330 that diverted in with a medical emergency?
    LH464, D-AIAK landed about 1605.

Osprey66 is a heli, out of Weston i believe, they operate power line inspection flights and survey flights. http://www.pdghelicopters.com/ they own Irish Helicopters I think, there is a link to irish Heli on the page.
regards item 4 on your list, ATC will often give the instructions 'in the event of a go-around climb straight ahead 4000 feet' for example.

    1) may have been fuel or oil burning off, usually happens on a new engine. Cockpit indications will lead the crew into continuing.
2)ILS config not usually during the day
3)Osprey is either gas pipeline check or ESB line check.
4)Usually given if the standard missed approach is not available.

Yeah I always find people overlook the simple explanations in search of something more interesting! Ur probably dead on the money!! Haha didnt think there would be any tolerance for practice approaches in such a busy period, but I guess everybody has to learn how to follow the glideslope somewhere.

Bal allow training aircraft to fly a few in as long as they break off a few miles out and dont do too many.

Dublin will allow it if nothing else is going on at the time.

They try and avoid doing it too much when possible.....and ask nicely. I was turned down for an ILS in Shannon on my MEIR flight test....the examiner had to talk them into it!:D It was in the flight plan and everything.
