    Hi,

Could any body help me find out what model car this headlamp came from?
My mother found it in the shed at home and it belonged to her father, we think the car is from the 40's maybe?

There is a stamp saying Vauxhall and England on top of it as seen in the pic below.

Would love to know what kind of car it was.

    Thanks!

Id say its probably a vauxhall. Couldn't be sure though.

thanks, was hoping someone could give me a specific model, might be impossible to say, would several models have used the same headlamps?

Ah feck I just read your full post... sorry

Is there anything on them to suggest they were attached to the top of the bonnet rather than into the front like more modern cars? If you hear about a vintage rally or something like that near where you live you could bring them along.

    Something like this maybe?

If you look closely at the OP's first pic you can see the hole for the mounting at the bottom and the Vauxhall badge on the top directly opposite the mount, so probably not side mounted as in your pic madyaker.

Ha, at least most of the Morris was there, but taking a gamble that its bottom mounted lamp with the logo on top, it'd have to be pre war and possibly late 20s or early 30s, Vauxhall seemed to change over to side mounted lamps in the mid 30s

Thanks for the replies, interesting stuff!

After looking at it a bit more and after rubbing away some of the dirt and dust, on the inside of the headlamp in a kind of small black print it says "8 NOV 1938", at least that's what it looks like, it is a bit smudged. I'll put up more pics later if I get a chance.

Does this help in identifying it? Does it mean it's more than likely side mounted because of the date?

Surely there cant have been many different models of vauxhalls produced in 1938. Would love to find out what it was attached to :)

hi... just thought i'd chime in on this as my old man is doing up a light 6 wingham cabriolet at the minute.. as far as i know the headlights on that are branded as road king / road master, but it's from 1936. By the way, the headlight is not going to be worth anything really in that condition... better off hanging on to it as a piece of memorabilia.

Thanks Doc, no markings like road king or road master on this one, just the vauhall badge.

Oh ya would not expect it to be worth much. High sentimental value though:)
