Macbook very slow!

    Hi all experts!
I have a two year old Macbook. It's in perfect order, except that it's gone very slow for browsing, i.e. opening and closing Internet pages, showing websites etc. That little rainbow wheel shows much too often for too long!
The memory is ok, I have disabled most add-ons and plug-ins, but I can't disable the Shockwave Flash one, or I won't be able to watch most videos etc. I think this is what slows down everything, even though I have updated it.
What could I do? Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance....

if you go to spotlight and type in disk utillity and then select the mac drive repair permissions check updates clear cash boot into safe mode and see if it happens there? check for any programmes that would be memory hungry

then i would reset the browser if it is still slow i would look at either using another browser or reinstalling the os (you can do this without wiping any of your settings or docs etc i had to do this with a java problem i had before )
