According to the Indo: But the latest statistics for September 2012 show some 202,000 homes still depend on the analogue signal for their main television, according to ComReg's Irish communications market report.

How do they get this research? Or is it just a guess? How do they know if I've purchased a new tv from Harvey Norman or not?

Mary Curtis, director of RTE's digital switchover: "consumers could end up missing the best deals on Saorview equipment if they wait too long, Ms Curtis cautioned.

On what basis can she say this?

Lots of surveys/market research on-going at the moment in the lead up to analogue switchoff - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=80699911&postcount=30

They are trying to encourage viewers who have not upgraded to Saorview to do so sooner rather than later. I don't think there'll be many deals available between now and maybe late Nov/Dec.
