Gun Club around Laois

    Hello.
I would be interested in joining a gun club in the laois area that would have some deer on the land as well as game birds.
I only shoot about 1 or 2 deer a year, but permissions are a couple of hours drive away from me and would like to get something a bit closer to home.
I have the guns, insurance etc, so not looking to join a club just to stick on the licence forms.

I would appreciate it if there is someone on here that could point me in the right direction.

    Cheers.

KildareJoe, this may sound silly but are you living in laois? if not you will get it up your proverbial to join one as in all likelyhood the clubs will not let you in.... even if you're from the county 99.9% of clubs won't allow "outsiders" from other parishes join, imo greedy b......s

Yes, I live in Laois and not very far away from reasonable deer locations.
I have permission to shoot on some land that does not have deer on it but I thought it might be polite to join a club rather that getting more permission. They get another member and I am saved the bother of doing up permission letters, knocking on doors, etc.
I will see how I get on here and if nothing turns up I will knock on a few doors in likely areas.
Apparently there were supposed to be some wild boar about the place but I doubt they were all that wild.

    Hello.

I have the guns, insurance etc, so not looking to join a club just to stick on the licence forms.

The point I was trying to make is that I already have the guns, license, insurance, and was not needing to join a club to apply for a license, as I'm sure there are plenty of members on clubs books that just join to allow them apply for a gun license and are never seen at meetings or are never around when anything needs doing that remotely resembles work.

So just to clarify, I would like to join a club.

As Secretary of a Club not too far away from you I suffer the same trying to get Members to turn up to meetings and do things like feeding Birds and I could keep going and going
