I have come to the conclusion that im gonna buy myself a new ipad,Im heading off to new york after christmas so think of buying it there. But now
that it says on the http://wheniskeynote.com/ website that the new ipad could be annouced in early-ish 2013.

After seeing the "Lignting" dock changes to the iphone 5. Im considering on waiting. Im in no hurry for it, Just handy to have around the house
a quick "Turn on and browse",

What would you yourself do, Would you wait or should i just get one at christmas time?

I haven't heard what might be included in the next iPad - but the new dock would seem a safe bet. Unless it was to be much lighter however, I'm not sure I'm bother waiting. It'll be March/April before you see it, so 6 months is a long wait when you could be enjoying it.

The retina screen was a big deal, and I don't see the next gen having anything that big to make it worth waiting so long.

Of course the iPad mini might mix things up a bit and maybe the dates will all change (not earlier though, I'd imagine).

When are you ever going to 'dock' an iPad?

Just buy it..if you think you'll use it. :)

You probably won't be able to get your hands on an iPad 4 'til around April so...

Personally, it's not a big enough reason to wait :)

If that is all you want. what is wrong with a Smart phone? I bet you probably already have one of those!

Couch surfing on an iPad > couch surfing on a smartphone.

    That is all.

Just do it. I don't think it'll be worth your while waiting.

I wanted an iPad/tablet for the same reasons as yourself, browsing around the house and for a little reading as well. Got one at the start of last month (if the price is putting you off, I went to Harvey Normans and got it over 10 months interest free) and absolutely love it. So much better than using a phone, and so much handier than turning on the laptop.

you'll probably have to wait until mid-March to hear something official... and then wait another few weeks. :(

Not a whole lot cheaper than a refurb here... certainly not worth the wait.

Otherwise, you must know someone going to the states sooner, or someone with a education discount etc?

+1 for the refurb. Keep an eye on the refurb store at

    http://store.apple.com/ie/browse/home/specialdeals/ipad

The stock changes regularly enough, I think overnight on a Tuesday, I've ordered a few things from the refurb store and the service has been excellent with delivery in less than a week generally. Also normally a refurb item comes in a plain brown cardboard box but not the iPad it comes in the full retail box, well it did for me! Go for it now if you think you'll use i think it is fantastic for browsing on the couch, reading etc

Are the refurbished stuff in the Apple store in good condition? :) Never ordered from there before, but it sounds good. :pac:

A refurb is effectively as-new. You'd never tell it apart from a brand new one. At least in the case of the iPhone, it has a new screen, back, battery... I'm really not sure what bits are not "new" in it!
