Done Deal

About to put my beloved Motor up for sale and have heard Done Deal's the place to do it.

For folks with experience of selling on the site my question is this - Does displaying your mobile number result in spamming -banking offers from Nigerian princes, Spanish lotto wins, missed calls from Liberia etc etc?

    My condolences.

Did it forever doom your personal number to such delights or has it eased up?

I would not put up my number. People are using the internet to use done deal so will have email access. Buyandsell is different as its a paper some non-internet users will be looking at.

Some might still prefer talking over typing though so you may lose some customers. esp. with the likes of a car which would need more conversation than other items. Some people will type out phone numbers to at least try and stop spambots automatically searching for phone numbers. Or a mixture of digits and typed numbers

    e.g. 0-eightseven-777five33

I keep getting those messages despite blocking the numbers,it seems that my mob phone number is in the scammers database.:(
I'ts only started happening this year when I put up my car ad on DD.

Think I may pick up a disposable SIM card for the duration of the advert's run.

    Circumvent the bullsh1t etc

    Thanks folks.

Do that , - cos the first thing I would do , is google your mobile to see if you have sold cars before .

But also from what I hear , Done-Deal is the place to sell a car .

Maybe you should mention '' no time wasters ' in your ad

Maybe you should mention '' no time wasters ' in your ad

    I'd say they're unavoidable tbh.

    Motoring forum offers this advice:
    Timewasters vs. Genuine buyers

    How does one differentiate? Simple.

An example of a text from a time waster will be “Hi, what’s the best price on the car?”
There is one simple reply to this, “Come and view it and we can talk on the price then”.
99% of the time you will never hear any more from this person.
