    Hi,

i'm looking to get a decent pair of noise cancelling headphones. I'll be doing a lot of travelling over the next few months so comfort will be a factor, however, budget wise i don't have a lot to [lay with and was hoping to spend less than 50 quid.

I have attached the following link from amazon:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003LPTAYI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

could anyone tell me if these are a good bet or if you know of any other kind for a similar price that might be better?

Do you mean active (battery powered) or passive noise cancelling? The ones you link to are passive.

    Thanks for your reply :)

Sorry, yeah I mean passive earphones.
I want them to listen to music/audio books on my phone while on planes and buses.

Are battery powered earphones very expensive or even necessary for such uses?

I have active noise cancelling headphones/walkman X1050 (old model) and while it is good, and works well in an office, bus etc, I don't think its much better than a good fitting set of in ear earphones. (IEMs). I have a cheap set of IEM's

and find they pretty much do the same job. But the fit has to be right which can take a bit of working out. Advantages are there is no lose in sound quality (active noise cancelling may reduce quality for Hi Fi buffs) and they don't use extra battery power/life. In fact they can extend it as you can run your MP3 at lower volumes. I find these M6's equally good in the office, bus etc.
