Hi so this is a massive game, loads of talk of it. Thought instead of pool and united threads being filled with discussion would be easier to discuss here?

    Hope this is ok mods.

I hope this game is all about the match and doesn't be remembered for wrong reasons.

As a united fan i can see united nicking this by a goal, but saying that the pool will be well up for this and have home advantage!!

    Anyways UNITED we stand ;)

    MOD NOTE :

Usual Soccer Forum rules apply. If you're not sure check here.

Take this as your warning, try to keep it civil everyone, you will pick up cards/bans for getting out of line.

Any problems with a post report it and we'll take care of it.

    Thanks

Could we at least wait until after the midweek games?
    And where are the crests?

Fuck the fucking crests. We all know who is playing.

    So eh, who's playing then.

I look forward to the handshakes. Probably the worst new addition to the game in the last five years.

Fair play midweek games good point but this game is huge. Especially given the families finally getting justice for hillsborough. I can see this game being so hard fought out.

If a mod wants to lock this for a day or two feel free.

Not a hope we're dealing with a week of this. It can wait until after the Champions League games.

    Go nuts.

But in a rule abiding manner

This could end up being really humiliating for Liverpool.

They may get themselves up for the game due to it being against United but their squad is so blunt and diminished this season i can't see them getting anything from the game.

no it wont, liverpool can definately get something out of this game and going on recent history, they can win this game.

im going to predict a 1-1 draw. united have shown alot of vulnerability from corners and crosses this season and liverpool will look to exploit this.

Nice to see you're concern as ever willy. Can't wait for the day you come out of the football closet with your Liverpool scarf on :)

Aye agree with HJ. Cant remember the last time we played well at Anfield and Liverpool will be up for the match too. Id say it'll be a draw

I'm going to predict a two all draw. Liverpool always seem to do well at Anfield in recent years against United.

Unless United really step up from every performance so far this season.

This season is a bit different though.

United have strengthened significantly where as Liverpool have regressed even further, i just can't see where the goals will come from for Liverpool.

However the fact is they are playing United so they'll probably be up for it but they just don't have the tools anymore.

Is this our Cup final, Willy or is it Chelsea? We seem to have a lot of cup finals.

Chelsea, United and Man City are your cup finals.

Ye don't seem too bothered by Arsenal anymore:pac:

I hope my team, Man United, beat Liverpool in this football match.

Hopefully that wasn't in bad taste.

Hopefully (as a Liverpool fan) Utd play: Evra/Nani/Scholes/Carrick/Kagawa/Welbeck

If all / most of the above play - we really should win !!

    3-1 to pool

And now I'm done with this thread before it hits the fan.

Will the Suarez Evra thing roll on
Can he shake Evra's hand, Suarez is pretty stubborn
Hate bringing it up, But again the Suarez Evra side show will get along of
    focus come kick off

You really should win every time you play us
But you rarely have of late,
I can't see us letting you leave with anything easy that's for sure

Heading over to this and hope Liverpool can get a win. Need a strong ref as usual in the big games.

As Liverpool can't seem to score in the league I'll call a score draw 1-1.

Who cares about handshakes bar media and tabloid readers.

I'm more looking forward to Sterling v Evra if he plays(hopefully)

I hope it all kicks off in some shape or form, the ultimate popcorn game.

A Liverpool win please as it's comfortably the lesser of two evils when it comes to the title race.

I see us letting in two, Scoring 3
Skrtel,Gerrard penalty and Downing to score a league goal:eek:

    I get your point
But on this day it would be almost as insulting to Man u fans as to Liverpool fans if Suarez did not behave and shake his hand
The whole Tribute to 96 dead should put things in perspective for both Evra and Suarez hopefully

They'll shake hands if they both start, no question. Shaking hands - what a load of BS tbh.

Anyway, every Liverpool fan hopes Evra will start I'd imagine because he's gone backwards bigtime.

Don't see it being as eventful as people are predicting (on the pitch anyway), think it goes against Rodgers' philosophy to approach any game all guns blazing, but rather opting for a calmer more methodical approach. Can see Liverpool having the lionshare of possesion again but have usual doubts about finishing ability up front as problem isn't being rectified in any way really.

    1-1

Nothing more pointless in a match thread than crests and elongated OPs copied from some site.

Actually, the post complaining about no crests is worse to be fair.

I don't see the recent hardon with crests. It's baffling tbh

Surely fans know their own crests at this stage and don't need them pointed out.

Well look, if Evra actually offers his hand this time rather than having it down by his side, fair enough!

If Evra plays, he should extend his hand without acting like a pr!ck and likewise, Suarez should shake the hand should it this time be extended!

What happens on Sunday pre-match is bigger than both those players!!!

This certainly will not be the Evra and Suarez show it's all gonna be about RVP i'm expecting 2 or more goals from him.

This'll be a clusterfúck in many ways, both game and thread I reckon. One the one hand, the last 2 of these matches I attended were Liverpool wins, but on the other hand, the last 4 times I've been at Anfield we've lost. I'm certainly apprehensive about my trip over on Sunday, but I hope to enjoy it, fingers crossed. It could really go any way, tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 241 ✭✭kayevajo

does anyone know what song liverpool have released for their cup final on sunday?

also what colour suits they are wearing? i liked the cream ones in `96!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,450 ✭✭✭jebidiah

I expect Liverpool will have "You'll never walk alone" by Gerry and the Pacemakers.

Suits most likely will be black.....

Except for Jose Enrique who will arrive in shorts and a tank top.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 241 ✭✭kayevajo

sure if its a draw at full time , there will be penalties , as LFC have not won a cup final ,without needing penalties since 2001!

+1 .... I think it's going to be bad tempered in the stands, on the pitch and in this thread.

    I can't see Liverpool scoring.
    I can see Utd scoring.
I can see a red card.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,326 ✭✭✭Jason Todd

I'm hoping for three things Sunday (as an LFC fan)...

Hoping Suarez doesn't let us down on and off the pitch

Hoping the Utd fans behave, I think the LFC fans will for the fortnight that's in it

Hoping for some sort of result in our favour :o:pac:
