    hi im only picking up the nerve to drive and im 36yrs old.have booked my test which will b in november driving instructor thinks i will b able to do it.would it b advisable to do a few small journeys on my own to get more confident :confused:

    No. You are breaking the law if you drive unaccompanied when you are driving on a learner permit. Until you pass your test and get your full license, you must have a fully qualified driver (who has had his/her license for at least 2 years) in the car with you at all times.

    Booking a pretest for a cpl of hours with someone other than your current instructor the week before could help build confidence. It would get you in the ''test mode'' frame of mind (driving with someone you dont know) and give you some constructive feedback at the same time afterwards.
