Help required please,The gear stick moves freely forward and back and is reluctant to move Left or Right. The clutch is OK as the car can be driven in the gear its in (Second I Think).I thought the one of the Joints had just popped off at the gearbox end,but both were connected.If I uncouple them I can manouver the gear…

Help required please,The gear stick moves freely forward and back and is reluctant to move Left or Right. The clutch is OK as the car can be driven in the gear its in (Second I Think).I thought the one of the Joints had just popped off at the gearbox end,but both were connected.If I uncouple them I can manouver the gear stick so there are intact.I can the move the lever that goes L to R on the Gearbox in a clunking fashion but I can not move the other by hand.What else can I Check ? are we looking at delving into the gearbox possible at the selector yoke ?
